Shrink packaging
About
the use and purpose of shrink wrapping in various industries
Here are
some of the industries and industries that commonly use shrink wrapping and why
they do so:
Food
industry: Shrink
wrapping is used to package a wide range of foods, including meat, cheese,
frozen foods, and beverages. It helps to extend the shelf life of food, prevent
contamination, and protect against physical damage. Shrink wrapping can also be
a way to group multiple products together, such as a pack of soda or beer.
Electronics
industry:
Electronic products such as computers, televisions, and electronic components
can be shrink-wrapped to protect them from dust, moisture, and damage during
transportation and storage.
Pharmaceutical
industry:
Pharmaceutical products often require tight sealing and protection from
external influences. Shrink wrapping can be used to ensure that medicines and
other pharmaceutical products remain intact and hygienic.
Cosmetics
industry: Beauty
products, such as soaps, shampoo bottles, or cosmetic boxes, can be
shrink-wrapped to provide attractive packaging, prevent leaks, and protect
products.
Toy
industry: Toy
products, especially those made of plastic or with small parts, can be
shrink-wrapped to ensure that they remain intact and prevent the risk of
suffocation or loss of small parts.
Building
materials: Some
building materials such as tile, wood board, and pipes can be shrink-packed to
protect them from dirt, moisture, and damage during transportation and storage.
For this, thick foil and a gas shrink gun are often used, see above.
Books
and printed materials:
Books, magazines, and similar printed materials can be shrink-packed to protect
them from moisture and dust and prevent damage to the cover.
Retail: Shrink packing is also used in
retail to package products such as CDs, DVDs, games, and other smaller items to
make them more attractive to buyers and prevent theft.
